Nina Running on Tower Bridge                     Nina accepting her Medal
It was a lovely clear April day, good Marathon running weather!  Nina's strategy to get her round the course was to count the Expandasign banners but unfortunately her mind was focused on the task in hand, maybe next time.  It took Nina 5 hrs 50 mins to run the 26.2 mile marathon course. Nina enjoyed running her first Marathon so much that she's already applied to run next year as well!  Watch this space for more details!

Thanks again for your fantastic support.

Rugby Rocks – Stage 1 – London Richmond 26-27th May 2012

On a hot a barmy 27 Degrees weekend in London, the 2012 launch event kicked off in high octane style...

This year a staggering 150 teams lined up to enter this the premier London 7’s festival event.  The first of three events this year, Expandasign teamed up with Rugby Rocks and Puma to help raise the events profile as well as attract sponsorship and exhibitors.

Almost overnight, Richmond’s Athletic Ground came alive in a blaze of colour while the elite of the Rugby sevens world battled it out under the searing sun for the London legs title as well as the chance to settle old scores of previous competitions.

Gates opened at 8am and the battles commenced at 10am … some 15,000+ Londonites braved the traffic and the heat to join in the spectacle that also included live music and DJ sets from England's Olly Barkley and Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, Benji Boko & Goldierock.

Even though the event was vying for attention with the capacity sell out Aviva Premiership Final being staged down the road at Twickenham, the gates were soon a flood with people from all walks of life looking to have fun in the sun and maybe party to the wee small hours of the morning.

All the associated sponsors all agreed that this had bee the best Rugby Rocks to date and would now look forward to the brand going from strength to strength in the forthcoming years.

To see all our pictures from the weekend head over to our Facebook page

The next event in the Socialite sporting event is 15th – 17th of June at the Bradford & Bingley RFC Ground, Bingley West Yorkshire, followed by the 14th to the 15th of July at the Meggetland Sports Complex, Edinburgh.

Follow the events fun & frolics at www.rugbyrocks7s.com - If you are in the area pop along … there are sights you simply can not afford to miss.

LI Spot the Ball !

Our Expandasign UK Team were among the other 20000+ London Irish Supporters enjoying the sun at St Patrick's Party game on the 25th March, as if we need an excuse for a Guinness or 2!

London Irish said: 'A last-gasp try from Tom Croft was just enough to see off London Irish in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon in front of a 20,905 crowd at the Madjeski Stadium.

In a topsy-turvy encounter that was played at breakneck speed, London Irish were punished for a chasing the game at the death as a pass failed to find its intended recipient, leaving replacement back-rower Croft with a free passage under the posts with time up on the clock.

It was a great advertisement for the Aviva Premiership with both sides wanting to play. Irish showed a lot of heart and passion right until the end, but unfortunately, on this occasion, it was not enough.'

Now, here's a good one for you all....Who can spot the ball?!

IOEX , Expandasign & a Bok!

New show, New venue and a New integrated marketing approach….phew, all this New stuff can wear you out!

The New Show is the International Outdoor Event Expo (IOEX) which is an extension to the well established International CONFEX to act as a more complete supply base for Conference and Event organisers so they can ‘one-stop-shop’ their needs.

The New Venue was the ExCel Exhibition Centre in the heart of docklands which will be part of the hub of the 2012 Games.

The New Integrated Marketing Approach was to have all our product examples and samples with the same unified message of “we make these”.

This last one may seem an obvious move but, until now we have used branded examples of our product so potential clients could see the quality of the companies we already work for. However, there are only so many times you can be asked for a particular brand of Ice Cream or Fizzy Drink or Burger with Fries, before a change is in the air!

IOEX brought customer acceptance of our “we make these” approach with comments from stand visitors of ‘what a simple message, that says it all’ and ‘I really don’t feel embarrassed about talking to you because I know what you do’ and a few more besides.

3 long days on your feet make New a bit wearing, but in the aftermath of sifting through what was achieved, a worthwhile outcome looks to be on the horizon.

The Bok's come home!

IOEX & Expandasign UK

Well it's the 2nd of March and already this year is racing away from us!  We're rapidly approaching the outdoor exhibition season and what better way to start than with the International Outdoor Event Expo (IOEX).

Next week will see the first IOEX that will be co-located with the already successful International Confex at ExCel.  IOEX will provide visitors with a chance to meet exhibitors covering all aspects of services to the event industry.  The show will also offer a seminar program running across the three days.

The guys at IOEX asked us to help brand the show for them using the
versatile Ex Up Towers and the old favorite Flying Banners.  With both products having the great feature of being able to re-brand by just buying fabrics these are great products for anyone to start with!

We at Expandasign UK are lucky enough to be exhibiting at the show on stand 620, don't forget to drop by for a chat to see how we can help you.

Off to load the van now in anticipation for Monday's set up!

Wokingham Half Marathon

Sunday the 19th February saw hundreds of runners limbered up, donning trainers, gloves and scarves ready to take on the Wokingham Half Marathon.

Wokingham Half Marathon

Competitors of all ages and varied abilities ran the 13.1 mile course crossing the finish line at Cantley Park.

Congratulations to the race winner Phil Wicks from Surrey, who beat his time from last year and finished in a course record time of 1 hour 3 mins 14 sec.

David Cliff, water provider to the Wokingham Half Marathon, used their Expandasign Premium Gazebo as a shelter to hand out water to the tired and thirsty runners coming over the finish line.  They even managed to encourage several of their team to run, so well done to all of them too!

DOUBLE-SIDED PRINTED BANNERS: A MYTH DISPELLED...

Printers may tell you they can print both sides of the banners, without telling you the whole story!

The vast majority of fabric banners are printed onto lightweight material with a reverse show-through of 80%+ meaning that, brands and messages are read in reverse on the backside...This is not a double-sided banner!

Fabric for printing on both sides is very specialist and is used only sparingly. This fabric is much too heavy and expensive to be cost effective and reliable for event Banner Branding Solutions.

At Expandasign we use a unique manufacturing process that incorporates the clever use of lightweight, robust material and treating it with sophisticated, specialist light-barrier coating before the print process has even begun. Once printed and heat cure, the two printed pieces are sewn back-to-back to produce TRUE double-sided printed products.

The requirement for TRUE double-sided print has increased dramatically and currently accounts for over 75% of our production of the ever popular Flying, Feather & Wing Banners.

This Primary Technology has enabled us to revolutionise quality print solutions for all our client needs.

All our fabrics are tailored for their specific uses, each undergoing a raft of specialist treatments and coatings using patented processed at our factory. Our quest for the perfect solution also filters right through to the printing, where the highest quality inks and technologies are used to give the quality demanded by our clients for both double-sided and single-sided banners.

At Expandasign we pride ourselves in being Industry leaders in Portable, Instant Advertising.

Welcome Back and Happy 2012!

At Expandasign we'd like to say a big welcome back after what I hope was an enjoyable and hopefully restful, break.

I'm sure you like us have finally managed to clear out the junk email and settle into looking forward to the excitement of the year ahead. With so much to look forward to this year, we know that early planning is the key.  Remember that whatever the event Expandasign will have a solution for you.

Our website will show you the full product range including the all NEW Ex Up and the old faithful teardrop banners & gazebos.

As in previous years December saw our annual donation to Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre (a home supporting homeless children in South Africa.) The thank you letter was touching so we thought we’d share it with you.
